Portland’s Nob Hill Bar and Grill Food Review
April 27, 2009  |  by admin  |  Hamburgers
nob-hill5.jpg The Nob Hill Bar and Grill, located at 937 NW 23rd, is an institution for yummy burgers. Consistently rated one of the best burgers in town, the Nob Hill Bar and Grill offers a relaxed atmosphere, and with smoking no longer allowed, very tolerable. The location is ideal, though parking can be a challenge at lunch.

The Reviews:

chuck_swanson.jpg Nob nob-hill2.jpg Hill is one of those very laid back places that caters to pretty much anyone looking for a tasty burger without the baggage of an uppity establishment. No ties and jackets here! The bacon, cheddar cheeseburger, comes with yellow cheddar, onions, pickles and their signature special sauce – some sort of variation on 1000 Island Dressing, but very tasty. And over my shoulder on the wall was a picture of Johnny Pesky. That sold this place to me! 4 out of 5. 4_tomatoes.png
jason_nuss.jpg I’ll img_0340.jpg have the Biddy Burger please!  This burger has all the goodness a person who’s throwing caution to the wind would want, and every person should throw caution aside sometimes.  A juicy patty, fresh produce, tons of cheese, crispy bacon, and an egg dropped on the top make this burger a flat-out yummy burger.  I didn’t get the chance to order my patty “medium”, you get what you get, but the patty was juicy and cooked to perfection.  I had no problem dropping $6.75 for this burger.  I guess the one thing that might have improved this burger would be more bacon, but then you risk leaving the restaurant on a stretcher.

Fries on the side hit the spot for an extra $1.25.  My Diet Coke came in a chilled pint glass making it nice and cold, and it was never empty with plenty of refills.  Overall the Nob Hill experience was very good.

jeremy_sherwood.jpg nob-hill3.jpg Nob Hill’s  Nobby burger is outstanding. The Nobby burger is 2 patties, large bun with cheese and ham or bacon.  I decided to mix it up and go with the ham instead of traditional bacon. (Wise Choice)  The thing that impressed me the most about this burger was it is far from the traditional Monster Thickburger; it didn’t leave you feeling like “What did I just eat…..”.  This burger was not only filling (not excessive), but the value was ideal.  I would highly recommend this burger to anyone in town.  It ranks up there with my all-time favorite burger “The Big Jud” only found in Idaho.

  1. I love the Nob Hill burgers. Good food, good price, and now that there is no smoking I might go more often.
