The first place “The Dudes Who Eat” decided to do a Portland food review was at the Paragon. The Paragon is located in the heart of the Pearl District.

Their website (www.paragonrestaurant.com) offers this description: “Paragon is a lively yet sophisticated neighborhood restaurant and bar featuring American bistro cuisine and tempting house made desserts and signature house cocktails. Located in the heart of Portland’s historic pearl district, the restaurant echoes the airy, spacious style of the surrounding art galleries.”
The Burger… The only burger the Paragon serves…
The Reviews:
The
Paragon burger checks in at $12.00 with the addition of bacon. It comes with white cheddar, pepper bacon (extra) and caramelized onions. The bun is not off the shelf and ads to the superb flavor. Not at all dry – very juicy – and not over cooked. Shoe-string fries sprinkled with rosemary are great! One of the better burgers in town, but at $12.00 the value rating slides somewhat. You’re likely paying for some of the Pearl District rent.

The
Paragon Burger (very creative name) at The Paragon was downright good. If you’re into a traditional burger on a sesame seed bun this isn’t it. Packed between a fresh cut bun with herbs baked in is a gourmet burger that is almost worth the $11.50 I paid for it.
The greatness about this burger was the crispy pepper bacon, it was off the hook. Caramelized onions added juicier flavor to an already juicy burger. Tomatoes were vine ripe even though I left them on the side. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. My Diet Cola was rarely empty making it easy to wash down the incredible fries.
I wouldn’t order this burger without bacon, but then again, I don’t order anything without bacon. Other than the price, I say this burger was Dude Sweet.

The
Paragon Burger is what I would consider a non-shorts and t-shirt kind of burger (Although I rocked sandals and shorts). It is more of a business class restaurant and business class food. The burger was very rich in flavor and the bun is very much like a really good dinner roll instead of a traditional hamburger bun. For a burger to get 5 out of 5 it really needs to fill me up, taste amazingly non-fast food, and most important have great value. The Paragon Burger although very tasty, lacked in value to fill ratio.
